The Clay Space Story
Clay Space is a purpose built
pottery studio nestled on our rural property in Ararimu (Bombay), South Auckland, just 9 minutes off the Southern Motorway.
Designed to feel calm, welcoming and inspiring, it's a place to slow down, switch off from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with the simple joy of making something by hand.
Whether you're joining your very first pottery workshop or returning to clay after years away, you'll find a relaxed, supportive environment where creativity is encouraged and perfection isn't the goal.
Built using natural materials and surrounded by the peaceful countryside, the studio has been thoughtfully designed to create a space where people can pause, breathe and simply enjoy the process of making.
At Clay Space, you don't need experience or artistic ability, just a willingness to give it a go.
We hope every person who comes to Clay Space leaves feeling calmer, inspired and a little more connected to themselves.
My Story
Hi, I'm Victoria
Clay Space grew from a love of pottery that has been part of my life for more than ten years.
Four years ago, my family and I moved to the countryside. While I loved our new lifestyle, it made continuing pottery much more difficult. Travelling into the city to access a pottery studio simply wasn't practical anymore.
As a busy mum to our daughter (7) and twin boys (5), life is full and often wonderfully chaotic. Between family, work and everything that comes with raising young children, I craved time to slow down, be creative and have something that was just for me.
When I get my hands in clay, I forget about everything else and simply get lost in the process.
I dreamed of creating a space at home where I could escape the demands of everyday life, slow down and reconnect with myself through clay.
I realised I wasn't the only person searching for a space to slow down. So many of us are juggling work, family, and the demands of everyday life, and I wanted to create somewhere people could come to simply breathe, create and reconnect.
What started as a dream of creating
space for myself soon become a dream of creating that same experience for others. A place where people could escape their busy lives, slow down and reconnect through creativity.
These days, life is busy. I know how
easy it is to put yourself last. I know how difficult it can be to find time to simply slow down and do something that brings you joy.
My hope is that when you visit Clay Space,
you'll feel what I feel every time I sit down with a piece of clay, a chance to pause, breathe, reconnect and leave feeling a little lighter than when you arrived.
Thank you for being part of this journey. I can't wait to welcome you into the studio.
Victoria
